SES announces new Chairman

The SES is delighted to announce that the explorer and businessman Neil Laughton has been formally and unanimously voted onto the Board of the SES as Chairman. Neil succeeds Andrew Mitchell, who has been involved with the Society for over 30 years (25 years as a Council Member and the last 5 years as Chairman). The SES is tremendously grateful to Andrew for everything he has done for the Society and we are thrilled that he will continue to play an active part in the Explorer Awards.

Neil brings the SES a wealth of knowledge and experience and we are extremely excited about the future of the Society under his leadership.

Neil is pictured here at the launch of his SkyCar expedition (a 2009 project to fly and drive the world’s first road-legal flying car from London to Timbuktu) at the SES's London home, the Park Tower Hotel (Knightsbridge).

To meet Neil, please do join us at the Society’s flagship event - the SES Explorers Awards, which takes place on Thursday 11th May at 6.30pm at The Royal College of Surgeons (by kind permission), 35-43 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London WC2A 3PE.

This year we will enjoy a treble celebration. Not only will you get to meet Neil and see this year’s winners receiving their awards, you will also see the presentation of the Eric Hotung award to Rosie Stancer, the polar explorer who is soon to cross the Taklamakan Desert.

The process is quick and easy. SES Members receive a discounted ticket price. If you are not a Member and would like to become one so that you can enjoy the discounted ticket prices to all events (as well as many other benefits), please CLICK HERE.
