Newall Hunter speaker at SES SOCIALS@GAUCHO in March27th Mar 2018 Duration: 23 hours 59 minutes
The SES is delighted to announce that Grand Slam Explorer Newall Hunter will be the Society's SOCIALS@GAUCHO speaker in March 2018 and will give a talk about The Science of Successful Expeditions on Tuesday 27 March 2018 at the Gaucho (City), London.
Newall Hunter FRGS is a Scottish adventurer and engineer who, in 2016, became the first Scot and one of only 15 people in the world to complete the full Adventurers’ Grand Slam - climbing the highest mountains of each of the seven continents and reaching both Poles. Newall will discuss his thoughts on how successful adventures are more science than art and why good planning, field testing and reconnaissance are essential to successful expeditions. He will also share outstanding photographs and tales of the pleasures and pitfalls (both technical and cultural) of operating, often solo, in predominantly cold and remote terrain.
As well as talking about the Adventurers’ Grand Slam, Newall will just have returned from his latest 2017 adventure - 'Crossing the Gobi Desert in winter - a solo desert challenge' and the SES Social@Gaucho talk will be the first showing of photos and tales of this latest adventure.
Newall is one of Scotland’s leading adventurers and is also a technical mentor for SES. For more information about Newal, please visit his website by CLICKING HERE
